Tenancy & Lease Agreements

Making the right choice for you

Choosing between pub tenancy or leasing is up to the individual. Greene King Pub Partners believes strongly that both will continue to play an essential role within the industry.

Greene King's Lease Agreement

Lease: requires capital for development of the property and full liability for repairs and decoration. The lease will have a higher rent because of the freeing of the 'tie', but does have the advantage of being assignable.

Greene King's Lease Agreement is a 15 or 20-year standard term with full repairing and insuring responsibilities. It is enhanced by The Code of Practice, a Customer Charter and a Specialist Support Programme.

Greene King's standard Tenancy Agreement

Tenancy: has lower rent and shared responsibilities. The tenancy rent can be maintained at this lower level because the product 'tie' is retained. The wholesale profit on all beers, minerals, wines, spirits and gaming and other machines allows us to maintain the quality of the estate through a continuous rota programme, an undertaking of necessary repairs and an innovative Licensee Support package. This opportunity allows us to support tenants with development, enhancing autonomy, as well as financing for the Business Support Programme.

Greene King's standard Tenancy Agreement is a five-year term with shared repair responsibility. It too operates within The Code of Practice, a Customer Charter and is backed by a Business Support Programme.

The Code of Practice

The Code of Practice has been developed to achieve a greater consistency of practice across the business and to give licensees confidence in their relationship with us.
