HOW MUCH WILL IT COST?

You will need money to take on your first pub – exactly how much depends on the size of the business.

This example is based on one with a rent of £30,000 per year.

  • Deposit – minimum £5,000 (equivalent to a quarter's rent).
  • Purchase of fixtures and fittings – approximately £20,000 for all the furniture, soft furnishings, ornaments, kitchen equipment etc.
  • Stock/Glassware – £6,000.
  • Training fund – £650.
  • Legal fees – £695.
  • Cash – £10-£15,000 for refurbishment, cashflow to cover your weekly rent, wages, outgoings and marketing – it's important to ensure that you have enough cash to get your business going.
