The Cadogan Arms in Ingham near Bury St Edmunds has gained a prestigious AA Rosette for delivering food that certainly stands out in the area. An impressive achievement for local pub
entrepreneur David Marjoram, as the Cadogan is in fact the only actual “pub” in the Bury St Edmunds area to receive the celebrated rosette for their outstanding food.
David has built a small pub empire in Bury St Edmunds. His other businesses include the One Bull, best known for its sumptuous and award winning wine list and the Beerhouse for its wide range of top quality real ale. After many years living in pubs and working in restaurants and hotels, David saw an opportunity in the local market with the Cadogan. David said: “I felt there was a real gap in the market at the quality end for families and I’m hoping the award will increase awareness of our excellent food offering we have worked so hard to achieve. I have an outstanding team that deliver food prepared to a level not usually found in a pub.”
The AA’s Rosette scheme has long been established and recognises excellent cooking across the country. Of all the restaurants in the UK, approximately 10% are of a standard which is worthy of 1 Rosette or above. Stephen Jones, AA Hotel and Restaurant Inspector said, “This is a huge achievement and not to be underestimated. The Cadogan offers good quality locally sourced food in a stylish and relaxed environment and the team there obviously pay care and attention to the end product.”
Speaking about the Greene King pub, business development manager for Greene King, Steve Look said, “David continues to deliver superb food and drink to his customers at this fantastic country pub. In addition to sourcing local produce, David and his team cure their own bacon, make sausages and smoke their own salmon. I urge anyone that hasn’t already tried the Cadogan to give it a go”.
