It’s our rich heritage of more than 200 years that has taught us how to brew award-winning beer and operate pubs from our base in Bury St Edmunds ever since the company was founded in 1799 by 19-year-old Benjamin Greene. We run over 2,700 managed, tenanted and leased pubs, restaurants and hotels. As a licensee, you can become part of this heritage, and benefit from our experience, expertise and buying power.
Our Heritage
Ever since we first opened our doors in 1799, we’ve been looking for ways to refine the traditional craft of brewing. The result? Arguably the finest range of cask ales in the UK.
Our business may have changed in the past 200 or so years, but some things haven’t. The passion for quality and service that inspired our brewing ancestors still inspires us today. It’s our heritage. One that’s been passed down through the generations and that will carry on for generations more.

As brewers, we’re very proud of our award-winning ales. Alongside our famous brands, such as Greene King IPA, Abbot Ale, Old Speckled Hen, and Belhaven Best, we offer an extensive range of seasonal ales throughout the year. This, combined with our quality guest ales and carefully selected other beers, makes for an exceptional range of beers and ales that we’re incredibly passionate about.
