Pub overview

The George & Dragon is an unspoilt 16th Century coaching inn in the pretty Oxfordshire village of Sutton Courtenay.

A community minded operator is required who can build on the great reputation that this village centre pub already boasts. It is an ideal lunch venue choice: with its lovely garden, quirky floors and old coaching inn charm it attracts walkers strolling along the nearby river. As well as having 2 bars, the dining room caters for around 40 people and is equally popular during the evenings as locals pop in to socialise with friends and enjoy some good pub food. There is a log-burning stove to keep winter at bay and a courtyard garden to welcome the summer.

The front bar is situated as you walk into the pub with a log fire and comfortable sofa area. It has separate dining in two areas and an outdoor courtyard/patio area for summer lunches and evening drinks.

“ This successful business, which is full of the character you would expect from an old coaching inn, already offers a great lunchtime and evening menu which is popular with passing and local trade. The pub needs someone who is community minded to build on its existing reputation and keep this pub at the heart of the village. ”
