Pub overview

This pub is a true gem, situated in the lovely market town of Ripon, North Yorkshire. It has been well looked after by the previous tenant and has only recently become available after 11 years.

The Golden Lion is a traditional site which is full of character and a loved local pub both by the community and visitors alike.
It has a good regular trade including darts teams and local clubs such as Amateur Dramatics groups, whilst providing all it’s customers with freshly home made food and a great drinks selection including our cask ales.

The pub is made up of three different zones including the bar area, snug and also a dining area. The dining area has a warm feel to it decorated with themed paintings and has different sized tables for those wanting to come with their partner or for a family lunch. The snug area is located at the front of the building with large wall fitted sofas perfect for the locals or large groups coming to have a drink. There is also an added benefit of a large function room to the rear which has huge potential to drive sales and maximise the use of the site.

The pub is situated on a one way system into Ripon so has regular passing trade and the added benefit that it is the closest pub to the bus station. Historically the pub had a lot of tourists visiting as the bus station also included stops for holiday coaches so those passing through would enjoy a lunch at the Golden Lion. We would be looking for an operator to develop the food offer here to include deals to bring those passing tourists back and maximise sales.

This pub is full of character and is kept in good order. The site is made up of three main areas, a bar area, snug area and also dining area. The pub also benefits from a large function room which could be used more and has large potential.
