Teesside entrepreneur takes second site with Greene King Pub Partners

Sally Marshall of the Marshall Robertson Group has taken her second site, Marshall’s in Yarm with Greene King Pub Partners and undertaken investments at both her Greene King venues this year.

The first pub transformation was the Ship in Redmarshall following a £190,000 investment.  This pub was renovated inside and out with new external signage, a large extension and new kitchen.  The outside space was upgraded creating a heated and lit covered alfresco area.  The pub reopened in April 2021 following the lock down.

Followed closely was the Union Arms in Yarm which changed its name to Marshall’s.  This was a £116,000 investment which completely changed the look of the site. A new name with bespoke external signage alongside a refurbished inside and garden area made this high street venue stand out in the market town of Yarm.

New food and drink menus have been launched at both sites including specially created and unique cocktails by Sally’s son Toby featuring popping candy, Haribos and Turkish delights. The menu at both pubs is famous for the Teesside delicacy, the Parmo (Teesside Parmesan) which is breaded chicken or pork, covered in bechamel sauce with a variety of toppings from ‘around the world’ with Marshall’s having over 30 to choose from alone.

To follow this, Sally also found her pub, The Ship in Redmarshall to be in the finals at the Great British Pub Awards for Greene King Pub Partners Pub of the Year award.

Speaking about choosing Greene King Pub Partners to build her pub portfolio Sally said, “Greene King Pub Partners has supported us through both investments and even as experienced operators, the support from them was invaluable to relaunching the sites”.

Sarah Barron, Greene King Pub Partners business development manager says, “To say Sally has made a mark on both businesses is an understatement.  She has been both professional and easy to deal with.  Her standards and values in her business run right through both pubs and stand out with the people she employs and trains making them great teams. Her ethos that we are Ladies and Gentlemen serving Ladies and Gentlemen really runs through how her pubs deliver such a professional and friendly service. Having an experienced operator like Sally who knows what makes a good business great is fantastic”.
