Bird Cage

23 Pottergate, Norwich, Norfolk, NR2 1DS

The Bird Cage, to be renamed the Drawing Rooms is a well-regarded, late night venue located on the busy and popular Tomblands, in Norwich city centre. We are planning a significant investment to refurbish the pub. Please see our attached plans Traditionally, this site is 100% wet led and is famous locally as a late-night venue with regular live acts. The pub has been popular with Bohemians and students looking to socialise and enjoy live music. The investment will offer the new operator a chance to take a popular city centre venue and make their own mark on the local scene.

Norwich is a city in Norfolk. Northeast of the centre, medieval Norwich Cathedral is a Romanesque building with ornate cloisters. Two imposing gates, St. Ethelbert’s and Erpingham, lead to the Tombland area, once a Saxon marketplace. Nearby, the Museum of Norwich at the Bridewell traces local history, including a re-created old pharmacy and exhibits on the textile industry. The Bird Cage is located on Pottergate, right in the heart of the Tombland area, which is surrounded by quirky narrow streets, various shops, bars and restaurants.

As you walk in the front door you see the main bar and small bar area. This then leads through to a corridor with toilets off to the side and along to a lower level area. In the past this lower level would have been used as a dance floor/seating area with a stage and separate sound room.

I am seeking an experienced operator with knowledge of the local pub scene in central Norwich. The pub is currently a late night venue and during the pandemic trading has been tough. The new licensee will need to revolutionise the business and ensure it becomes an all day venue. If this sounds like the opportunity you have been waiting for, then please contact the recruitment team for further information
