Ampthill is a town and civil parish in Bedfordshire, England, between Bedford and Luton. Approximately 10 miles from Bedford and 14 miles from Luton. The name 'Ampthill' is of Anglo-Saxon origin. In 1219 King Henry III granted a charter for a weekly market to be held on a Thursday. In 2019 the market celebrated 800 years. Ampthill castle was built in the 15th Century and Henry VIII was a frequent visitor and it was there Catherine of Aragon lived from 1531 until divorced in 1533. Ampthill also has it's own football club, Ampthill Town FC who are currently in the Spartan South Midlands Football League.
