A welcoming pub with local ale, good pub food and great entertainment.

The Woolpack has become known as one of the best cask ale pubs not just in Chelmsford but throughout Essex. The pub has the warmth and atmosphere of a traditional ale house located in the back streets of the city centre. With up to eight cask ales available at any one time from local brewers this is a haven for the real ale enthusiast. The small snug bar offers traditional pub games and the main bar offers comfort for both drinking and eating. The patio area to the rear of the pub is well utilised throughout the year, especially when the regular and popular beer festivals are taking place.

There are two main trading areas. To the front of the pub there is a small snug bar with a pool table and darts throw. The main bar area is made up of two split areas. Live music is a regular feature at the pub and can be accommodated at the end of the main bar area. It has a wonderful outside seating area that benefits all year round from customer use.
