The Rose & Crown is crowned Greene King Pub of the Year

The Rose & Crown in Thorpe has been crowned the Greene King Pub Partners Pub of the Year at the Great British Pub Awards 2021.  The annual national awards recognise the very best in British pubs.  This year’s awards were streamed live from a London pub and presented by DJ host Scott Mills.  The awards recognise, reward and celebrate the fantastic work pubs do for our country and their communities.

The Rose & Crown was one of six finalists.  It stood out as the winner because of the amazing service and standards it provides alongside the extensive outside area that accommodates customers in mini huts and other outside eating and drinking areas.

Speaking about the winner, managing director for Greene King Pub Partners, Wayne Shurvinton said, “All our finalists in this category are fantastic examples of brilliant pubs that go that extra mile to make customers experiences special.  The Rose & Crown showcases hospitality at its very best. Clive Price and his team at the pub deserve our huge congratulations and thanks for being a wonderful pub for their community both during the difficult lockdowns and since”.

Clive Price from the Rose & Crown said, “We are delighted to have won this award.  We couldn’t have done it without the hard work from Sam our General Manager and Ryan our Head Chef who together have really made this all possible.  The key thing for us is making people welcome and making someone’s day whether they are wanting a three course meal or a pint and a bag of crisps and we’re really pleased the judges thought the same”.
