Award winning operators take on third Greene King pub

Award winning operators Maria and Steve Harris have taken on their third pub with Greene King Pub Partners, The Mailmans Arms in Lyndhurst.

The couple, who opened their first ever pub in February 2021, also operate The Stag in Lyndhurst, located next door to The Mailmans Arms, and The Old Mill in Salisbury – all in partnership with Greene King Pub Partners.

In 2023, Maria and Steve’s first pub, The Stag in Lyndhurst, won Pub Team of the Year, Community Pub of the Year and Pub of the Year at Greene King’s Night of Excellence awards.

Later that year, the couple then won Greene King Pub of the Year at the prestigious Great British Pub Awards.

Located in Lyndhurst high street in the heart of the New Forest, The Mailmans Arms transformation was completed over two stages.

Firstly, the pub’s trading area was overhauled to create a new and vibrant interior including an eclectic mix of new fixtures and fittings, a number of which have been sourced locally from Lyndhurst high street.

Secondly, the pub’s five guest rooms have now been fully refurbished and will be ready to welcome guests for the busy spring and summer seasons in the New Forest. The stage two works at the pub also included a full external refurbishment of the site.

As part of the refurbishment the 'Dog House' has been introduced which is a specific area where pub goers can play pool and darts and watch sport on one of the pub’s many TVs.

The Mailmans Arms core food offering will be a small plates menu comprising of street food made predominantly with local ingredients. Favourites dishes currently being served at the pub include bao buns and a twist on a modern Sunday roast that includes Marmite roasted cabbage.
