A TRUE COMMUNITY LOCAL
The Macebearer, Bury St Edmunds is a former Greene King managed house which has now transferred to our leased and tenanted division. It is a true community local, focusing on wet trade, sport on TV and a value food driven food offer. The site attracts local residents from the close by Nowton and Harwick residential Estates and is very popular within these communities. This site currently trades at an 80/20 split in favour of wet sales. Any new operator will need to build upon this good will in the local community and improve the offer further to ensure they keep coming back. The future of this site is very much as a value driven, community local and the new operator will need to build their business plan in line with this.
Bury St Edmunds, commonly referred to locally as Bury, is a historic market, cathedral city and a civil parish in Suffolk. Bury St Edmunds Abbey is near the town centre. Bury is the seat of the Diocese of St Edmundsbury and Ipswich of the Church of England, with the episcopal see at St Edmundsbury Cathedral. The Macebearer lies within the Harwick Shopping Centre on Home Farm Lane which houses a convenience store, Fish and Chip shop, hairdressers and other local shops. The pub is close to both the Nowton and Hardwick estates as well as West Suffolk Hospital.
